Do we get a uniform? a shirt? or a jersey?

Noone will receive “a shirt”.

Everyone will receive a JERSEY.

Only Traveling teams will receive a full Uniform to include: socks, shirt, numbered jersey.

What size ball do we need?

The age of your child depends on which size ball will be used.

Generally speaking, most children will play with a size 3 or a size 4 ball.

Please look at the individual registration category for your child’s team.

Ages up to 7 years old – Size 3

Ages 8 and up – Size 4

Co-Ed teams age 14+ – Size 5

What type of shoes?

Soccer cleats or running type shoes are the only permissable footwear on the field.

Soccer cleats can be found online or at local sportswear shops like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, and sometimes can be found at large department stores like Ross or Wal-Mart.

Please do not use football, softball or track cleats.  This type of footwear may injure other players and are not designed to be used on the grass fields.

Do we need shin guards?

YES.  Our insurer *requires* all players in shin guards.

Please do not let your child enter the field without their shin guards.

When putting on the shin guards, be sure to cover the shin guard with a full-length sock.  You can use soccer socks found at sports outlets. However, some parents use tube socks as well.

Players are assigned to divisions based on their age as of August 1 of the current
registration period.  For example, the U8 division consists of
players who were 7 years old on August 1st.

When do we practice?

Explorer Teams only practice once per week.

Challenge Teams practice up to two times per week.

Traveling Teams have separate practice times.

All practices are ONE hour.  We have the fields reserved from 5pm to 7:30 pm.

Please check your division’s webpage or the calendar for more detailed information.

What is the difference between “Explorers”, “Challenge Team” and “Traveling Competitive” teams?

These are three tiers of teams based on level of commitment and purpose. We have additional levels of play for the VIP and Co-Ed players as well.

  • Explorers are for fun, recreational soccer teams. This is the “exploratory” level of gameplay. Players focus on developing skills in a casual manner. We rely on volunteer and parent coaches.
  • Challenge Team players have Saturday games on a more competitive basis. Their skill set includes rules of the game. These games are against players within VSC. We rely on volunteer and parent coaches.
  • Traveling Competitive Teams are just that. These are the players who want to test their skill and strategy against others across the state.  These players have more frequent practices with a professional team coach.
  • For more information, please read more about the VSC program: http://vierasoccerclub.org/information/our-program/
